Abstract

Impatiens lingshanensis, a new species of Balsaminaceae is described and illustrated in limestone areas of southern Guangxi, China. This new species is morphologically similar to I. pingxiangensis H. Y. Bi & S. X. Yu and I. hainanensis Y. L. Chen. However, it is distinctive in the morphology of the leaf blade and the number of lateral veins, the morphology of lateral united petals and lateral sepals. The leaves of this new species are ovate orbicular, margin is nearly entire, apex acute, lateral veins 6–7 pairs, inner lateral sepals 2, linear or narrowly lanceolate, base lobes of lateral united petals suborbicular and distal lobes dolabriform. Moreover, lip short and spur without dehiscent. A detailed description of the new species and colour photographs are provided. Its geographical distribution and morphology are also compared to similar species.
