Abstract

This study comprehensively reviews the genus Coccinella in Pakistan and highlights Coccinella luteopicta as a new country record. The prey, host plants, distribution, and identification key of the genus Coccinella species in Pakistan were provided. Additionally, the COI (cytochrome-c-oxidase subunit I) sequence data of C. luteopicta and C. marussii were provided firstly, to identify their position.

The genus Coccinella includes seven species in Pakistan, namely, C. marussii Kapur, C. iranica Dobzhansky, C. transversalis Fabricius, C. septempunctata Linnaeus, C. transversoguttata transversoguttata Faldermann, and C. undecimpunctata Linnaeus was reviewed. Morphological features of adults, including male genital characters, and an identification key to known species in Pakistan, were presented. Also, the prey, host plants, and distribution were provided. The new data (COI-barcode) shows that C. luteopicta (Mulsant, 1866) was recorded first in Pakistan.
